The Pulse FM - Ehab

94.7 The Pulse FM interview with Ehab on 3 June 2025

Gina Field, Managing Director of Nepean Regional Security, appeared on The Pulse FM with Ehab to address the recent gang-related machete attack at Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne. She supported the Victorian government’s machete ban but criticised its effectiveness, arguing it merely shifts violent youths toward alternative weapons. Gina pointed out loopholes that still allow machete purchases online and interstate, questioning how the ban will be enforced.

She highlighted the rise in youth crime and escalating violence, warning that the issue goes beyond weapon access. Gina observed that many young offenders show blatant disregard for authority and security staff, and she criticised the government for failing to act swiftly after incidents like the Bondi stabbings.

Gina called for a consistent national ban on machetes, urged better training and equipment for security personnel, and encouraged greater collaboration between police and private security. She predicted that shopping centres may soon adopt metal detectors and stadium-style security as a necessary response to growing threats.
